UNIHA has successfully delivered and commissioned four high-capacity microscreen drum filter units as part of a complete retrofit of an existing drinking water treatment plant. The facility now produces up to 230,000 m³ of drinking water per day, ensuring stable and reliable operation.
Efficient and Robust Drum Filtration Technology
Each drum filter is 5 m long with a diameter of 3 m. Four stainless-steel drive wheels provide variable rotational speed, adjusted according to raw water quality.
As the first treatment step, the microscreen units remove particles larger than 80 µm using stainless-steel mesh panels mounted around the drum. Water flows from the inside to the outside of the drum, while spray nozzles continuously clean the mesh surface. The resulting wash water is collected in an internal basin and transferred to a dedicated wash water recycling system.
Complete Retrofit Delivered by UNIHA
UNIHA designed, supplied, installed and commissioned the entire system, including:
- Detailed engineering and integration into the existing plant
- Manufacturing of the drum filters
- Mechanical and electrical installation
- Adaptation to existing civil structures
- Commissioning and operational optimisation
The retrofit replaced outdated equipment with modern filtration technology while the plant remained in operation, leading to improved performance, higher reliability and increased operational efficiency.
