Filtration
Products
Our streamlined methods are designed to enhance water purity and quality. Discover how we tailor each product to your unique water treatment needs.
At filtration, the water is passed through meshes, membranes or media beds which remove suspended matter by size exclusion.
In media beds, also ad-/chemisorption as well as biological mechanisms can be used to convert or remove dissolved components. Chemical conditioning of the feed can be used to increase the separation efficiency.
We accomplish Filtration by the following methods.
Media filter
At media filtration, the feed is passed vertically through a bed composed of one or more media layers. Each media layer consists of granules with uniform physical and chemical properties. Dissolved and suspended matter is removed by size exclusion (filtration), ad-/chemisorption as well biological reactions in a biofilm attached to the media.
Applicable media is e.g. silica sand or glass, anthracite, granular activated carbon, MnO2. The media layers are either housed in pressure vessels or in open tanks. Retained solids, surplus biomass or adsorbed matter can be removed by backwash. Other media such as resins can be chemically regenerated.
Membrane filter
At membrane filtration, the feed is partially (crossflow) or completely (dead-end) passed through porous membranes, retaining suspended matter. Depending on the pore size, the membranes are referred to as micro- or ultrafilters.
The available membrane configurations are tubes, bundles of hollow/multibore fibers and flat sheets, made of polymers or ceramics. The membranes are either housed in pressure vessels or submerged in open tanks.
The available methods to remove the retained matter i.e. the filtration cake from the membrane surface is backwash, air scouring and chemical cleaning.
