Sewage treatment for reuse in irrigation

UNIHA Sewage treatment for reuse in irrigation

UNIHA designs and builds a sewage treatment plant in an island setting, in order to reuse the treated water for irrigation. The design considers the highest reclaimed water quality (class A, irrigation of all food crops where the edible part is in direct contact with reclaimed water and root crops consumed raw acc. To the REGULATION (EU) 2020/741 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on the minimum requirements for water reuse quality).

The treatment process comprises the following units:

  • Inlet lifting station
  • Mechanical pretreatment unit; including screen and S&G removal
  • SBR system
  • Sand filtration system; including backwash system
  • Reclaimed water system; including chlorination, effluent tank, reclaimed water pump and UV disinfection system
  • Sludge thickener
  • Sludge dewatering
